80% of Americans do not have access to civil legal help, including for shelter, sustenance, safety, health, and child custody.
The Commons Law Center is a first-of-its-kind legal resource in Oregon, with a mission is to revolutionize access to basic legal services, information, and support for underserved people. We offer sliding-scale legal services to people who make too much to qualify for free legal aid but not enough to hire a market-rate lawyer as well as free community legal education.
Once we raise our seed fund we can hire our first cohort of fellows to scale our services and broaden our scope. Stay tuned; we're open-sourcing the model to help even more people innovate to expand access to basic legal services.
